The hunting lodge, located 7 km north of Eutin's city center and in the middle of the forest, was built in 1776 by the well-known court architect Georg Greggenhofer on behalf of the Prince-Bishop of Lübeck, who was also the Duke of Oldenburg, for use for hunting parties or tea parties. The Ukleisee, surrounded by legends, is particularly inviting for hikes through the forests on the lakeshore in summer.
The Ukleisee is about 5 km from Malente and can be easily reached from there via hiking trails. A short detour to the Ukleisee is a good idea, for example, when hiking around the Kellersee. The approximately 3 km long circular hiking trail around the lake is particularly recommended in summer and autumn, because then nature shows hikers in all its splendor. The densely grown trees that reach down to the shore offer pleasant shade. You can also visit a castle on a walk around it. From the late baroque hunting lodge you not only overlook

the Ukleisee, but also enjoy a unique view of the landscape of the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park.
