Sgurr Ban was the first of five Fisherfield Munros that I summitted in September 2019 as part of my Munro round. I approached from the east, down by the Abhainn Loch an Nid. The upper slopes are basically a jumble of quartzite boulders for around 2km and it's extremely slow going walking on that kind of terrain. It's also a possibility to climb Sgurr Ban's neighbour - Beinn a'Chlaidheimh. Beinn a'Chlaidheimh has the unfortunate status of being an ex-Munro, demoted back in 2012 after it was remeasured and deemed not high enough to qualify. Munros must be 3,000ft or 914.4m and this one is only 914m. Close but no cigar!
