On this site is a mass grave of the Battle of the Nations in 1813.

It is located near the Horstsee in the middle of the Lindigt. A small hiking trail leads from the parking lot at Horstsee past old burial mounds to the small memorial complex. It is a quiet place with an unimagined history that started in 1791. The main palace of Hubertusburg, which had not been used since the pillage, was destined for the construction of a military magazine in 1791. On July 13, 1813, a French war commissioner appeared in front of the hospital gate to set up a French hospital for 4,000 men. Most of the suffering came together in the Hubertusburg after the Battle of Nations near Leipzig. Many succumbed to their wounds, others died of nerve fever.
Every day a stream of wounded and an equal stream of dead came to the Lindigt on Horstsee, where mass graves took in the countless victims of the wrestling of nations. How many died in the Hubertusburg hospital cannot be determined, the numbers fluctuate between 7000 and 13000. This was also due to the careless, cruel treatment by the French surgeons. In the morning they went through the rooms, tore the notes off the beds and so the guards carried the dead into the morgue. From there they were brought to the mass grave in the Lindigtlehde. Some of the giant graves are overgrown with forest.
Now there is a mighty linden tree in the middle, and a simple memorial stone reminds the hiker of the dead who are resting here.
