One of the most interesting geotopes in Europe - but also a very busy place -
There are also larger rock gates in Europe; but those are limestone bridges.
Therefore get up early depending on the journey and secure a good parking space. The queue at the ticket booth can be very long.

It's best to arrive early in the morning so it's not crowded. Avoid weekends and holidays better. It is also great to photograph the Prebischtor at sunrise from the opposite lookout rock.

You just have to see the biggest sandstone gate in Europe. Above you have to pay 3 € Eintritrt, which are really very well spent. The inn offers good and very reasonably priced cuisine.

It is the largest natural rock gate in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. It has a length of almost 27 m, a height of approx. 16 m, with a width of 8 m at the widest point. It has not been allowed to enter it since 1982. The Eisenach – Budapest long-distance hiking trail passes here. A must to be here when you are around.

During the high season and holidays, it is really extremely touristy and very (!) Full. Certainly a beautiful area, but the paved, paved or otherwise prepared walkways leave little room for maneuver and the access to the gullies is sometimes overcrowded. Ruthless drivers and cyclists do not make the experience more enjoyable. Do not expect too much and start early in the morning!
