In its long history since 1650, Dammsmühle Castle has seen a great deal: from its original use as a mill, its conversion to a manor house (where Napoleon also visited), its temporary use as an entertainment venue, and during the Nazi regime as a satellite camp of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. After the war, the Red Army occupied Dammsmühle, followed by the Stasi.

Plans to reopen the baroque manor house to the public after reunification never came to fruition. Despite this, or perhaps precisely because of this, the dilapidated Dammsmühle Castle, with its surroundings of enchanted forest and marshland, remains a fascinating destination for excursions, which can be wonderfully explored from the outside.

How to get there:
Can be reached on foot or by bike in 2.7 kilometers from Schönwalde train station.

After the development contract has been concluded and the state planning request has been approved, the draft development contract must be prepared and submitted for approval. The resulting draft development contract will then be submitted to the municipal council for approval.

Not quite “Lost Place” anymore. A fence prevents access. In addition, it is currently being extensively restored. A beautiful thing, I think. But I can't say what's going to happen next. private property? Museum? We will see!
