The campsite has grown over the years (especially with regard to permanent campers) and has been renovated several times. There is always a lot going on here in summer - the number of day visitors has also increased. Since the water quality in the Bleiloch reservoir has improved a lot and there are many recreational opportunities and many hiking / biking trails in the area, the campsite can be highly recommended.
The position of this highlight may be a bit confusing ... The actual campsite is further ahead towards the monastery. This position here rather points to "the camping town" of the annual Sun-Moon-Star Festival (SMS). But that has little to do with the actual smaller campsite. 35,000 techno fans in an extreme tent city are awesome. I once attached a photo. The Saalburg / Kloster camping site has expanded a lot and now extends from the main entrance in the Kloster to the Wetteraweg. Mainly there are many bungalows and attached caravans for permanent campers, but there is also enough space for day visitors in summer.
There is a restaurant and beer garden at the main entrance.
The expansion of the space at the SMS Festival (Sun-Moon-Stars) is of course an exception - and has nothing to do with the actual smaller campsite. At one of the largest open-air festivals for electronic music / techno, around 35,000 guests are counted every year. This is a tent city in itself ...
