    The High Bridge (Maastricht: Hoeg Brögk) is a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Maas in the Dutch city of Maastricht. The bridge was opened in 2003 and connects the city center of Maastricht, located on the western bank of the Maas, with both the old district of Wyck and the new district of Céramique, both on the eastern river bank. The bridge also forms the connection between the Maastricht City Park and the Charles Eyck Park.

      As early as 1988, when the first plans for the "Céramique" district were presented, there was talk of a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists over the Meuse, which would connect the center of Maastricht with the newly built "Céramique" district.

      During the years in which the design was created, people spoke of the “Ceramique Bridge” because this bridge was intended to connect the new “Ceramique” district with the city center. However, this name remained popularly known. The city council later chose the name "Hoge brug". This name is not due to the fact that the bridge had to be higher than originally planned and that it is quite a journey by bike to get to the final bridge deck over the steeply sloping cycle channels. The name is reminiscent of a bridge that must have been here much earlier, as evidenced by the name "Hoogbrugstraat", which is an extension of the bridge. In Maastricht it is referred to as "De Hoeg Brögk".

      Construction began in January 2003 and was officially inaugurated the same year.

        The Hoge Brug was designed by the architects of the René Greisch firm from Liège. The total length of the bridge is 261 metres, the width is 7.20 metres, the bridge is 10 metres above the water level and the highest point of the arch is 26 metres above the water level. In 2004, the bridge won the Steel Prize from the Stichting Bouwen met Staal.

        In order not to hinder shipping even more, Rijkswaterstaat determined that no pillars were allowed in the Maas. For the Hoge Brug, a steel arch bridge was chosen, the road surface of which is suspended from diagonally tensioned cables, with pillars on both banks of the river.

        Due to the required clearance height, the ramps to the bridge would be so steep that a 'lazy staircase' construction was chosen. There are lifts at both ends of the bridge for the disabled.

        In the Céramique district, the bridge ends at Plein 1992 and on the inner city side there is a landing in the Stadspark (in front of Onze-Lieve-Vrouwewal) plus an exit to Maasboulevard.
