The Alpe di Siusi is the largest alpine pasture in Europe. A hiking and skiing Eldorado!

The Alm has a size of 56 km ², located at an altitude of 1680 m s.l.m. to 2350 m s.l.m., and is one of the largest closed plateaus in the Alps. The Schlern, the Roterdspitze and the Rosszähne delimit the Alpe di Siusi to the southwest. To the southeast, the striking mountain massif of the Langkofelgruppe joins. To the north, the Alpe di Siusi falls behind the Randerhebungen Puflatsch and Pizberg to Val Gardena. In the west, the area sinks over the upstream Schlern area towards Eisacktal.

If you like South Tyrol, you might like the Alpe di Sole. Wonderful air up here at about 2000 meters. I would like to add here that I always wanted to go to the Alpe di Siusi in winter and absolutely wanted to ski cross-country up here, because up here there is also a fantastic, dreamlike panorama. Well, I thought 1900 hm nothing can go wrong, there is always snow: (I was wrong, because up to Austria and on the way back from Brenner / Austria was plenty of snow only in South Tyrol not The snow clouds are just not over the Alps Anyway, if you like it, alpine was relatively easy everywhere, cross-country skiing from the hundreds of km just about 15 km from Compatsch, but I have to say that we hiked a lot or just went for a walk and the dreamlike ambience made up for the lack of snow.
For those who like nature, mountains and South Tyrol, it is a must to get active on the Alpe di Siusi or just to relax and sunbathe. Also biking is fantastic here, this will be my next stay in South Tyrol.

Anyone looking for the "Almfrieden" has lost nothing on the Alpe di Siusi. Countless paths and felt as many lifts lead to the pasture. Once at the top one expects a small Disneyland of the Alps at about 1800 meters. There are hotels including an indoor pool, a small golf course as well as various shops and souvenir shops. Tired hikers can also explore the plateau on a coach or bus ride. Compensation for this alpine hustle is in the form of a unique mountain panorama. Of course, the Seiser Alm is also the starting point for many hiking and cycling tours. As a family or adventure trip thoroughly recommended.

In my opinion, the Seiser Alm is one of the most beautiful hiking areas in South Tyrol, because it is suitable for all hikers. Whether you prefer flatter paths, want to use the Seiser Alm lifts or hike to higher altitudes, e.g. to the Schlernhaus or the Plattkoffelhütte, you will always find a beautiful path with great panoramas. And the huts are simply great with delicious food and deck chairs to enjoy the views.

After a long time I see the two impressive rock massifs of the Alpe di Siusi again in May. They dominate the view of the Alpe di Siusi and provide an incredible feeling of space: the Sciliar and the Sassolungo group with Sassopiatto. In between, I've never seen so many crocus bloom, there must be millions of little plants. A great experience. A few meters above sea level, new plants appear or bloom - here the course of spring can not be enjoyed as a chronological sequence, but at different heights at the same time: crocus, pasque flower, marsh marigold, cowslip and alpine bellflower seem to bloom at the same time within reach of the snow. A great experience.
