Hard to imagine that large parts of Jenfeld once consisted of swampy moorland.
Until the end of the 18th century, the farmers in the surrounding villages made their living from cutting peat, which gradually made the moor disappear.
About 200 years later there is nothing left of the former moor area, but it is still a valuable biotope for numerous animal and plant species.
Today there is an idyllic lake at this point, which is surrounded by the Jenfelder Moorpark.
