With the fall of the wall, the idea arose to resume rowing. However, it was not until May 26, 2006 that this dream came true. The new gondola station on the Wenceslas Cave, next to the hanging bridge, was put into operation.

The Hirschberg gondola station was on the Upper Franconian side of the Saale until 1945. After 1945 Hirschberg was located in the restricted area of the inner German border. Paddling or rowing on the Saale was only allowed again in the 1980s and only the German neighbors.
