    Always a pleasure to visit Kinder Downfall and see how much water there is! I love it when the wind blows the water upwards, but the really special event is when it fully freezes over. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, the experienced ice climbers hit the waterfall and climb up it.

      Kinder Downfall is the highest waterfall in the Peak District and is unusual in that during periods of strong wind it can be blown upwards! On a clear day it's a spectacular sight. Take care when approaching the edge of the waterfall as it's a long way down!

        Just gorgeous! When we visited it was so windy that most of the water was flowing back up. I probably won't call this a waterfall. Should be a waterclimb or an upfall :-)

          Located on the River Kinder on the edge of Kinder Scout, this is an impressive waterfall and in fact the tallest in the Peak District with a 30 metre fall. It wasn't its most impressive on our latest summer adventure but you can see why it is after rain. You can also see why it would be so treacherous.

            Marvel at the spectacular rock buttresses and cascading water of the Kinder Downfall. On a clear day, this natural amphitheatre can be visible for many miles.

            Kinder Downfall is often shrouded in mists, as the wind blows the tumbling water into the air. On sunny days a series of colourful rainbows arch over the rocks.

              Beautiful location and a great rest spot. Wouldn't fancy it here on a bad weather day!

                Has great views but can get really busy with people having picnics. For a quieter spot, head further up the River Kinder to escape the crowds.

                          One of the wonders of the Peak District, Kinder Downfall is the tallest waterfall and is unusual in that on a windy day the water can be blown upwards! The best viewpoints are the rocks on either side of the waterfall but these can be slippery in wet weather.
