Today's winter church was built between June 1948 and August 1949 on the mountain saddle between Erfweiler and Hauenstein on the site where an old Marian pilgrimage chapel had previously stood, which was destroyed in 1789. Fun fact: Here hikers can ring the bells themselves by pulling on hanging strands.
