There are fantastic views of Snowdonia from the top of Moel Siabod, but the weather must be clear. From the top it is possible to see 13 of the 14 highest peaks in Wales on a clear day without turning your head.

The eastern sentry to Eryri (Snowdonia), Moel Siabod stands guard over the village of Capel Curig. A variety of ascent options including easy grass slopes, historical quarry tracks and a gentle ridge scramble all end on a summit that provides one of the best views into the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) massif to be found anywhere in the national park.

Moel Siabod is one of the gems of the Snowdonia National Park, that often gets overlooked by the hoards heading for Snowdon. From the A4086 Moel Siabod just looks like an ordinary fell towering above Llynau Mymbyr. From the Betws-Y-Coed side this mountain provides impressive views as you make your way through historical quarries, Llyn's and even a ridge walk (Daear Ddu) up to the summit.

Once at the summit the panoramic views across Snowdonia are hard to beat and especially the Snowdon Massif.

The path that passes Llyn-y-Foel can get boggy and the OS map path is barely visible, so it is a case of making your own way across trying to keep your feet dry. There is a grass ascent to the summit just behind the Daear Ddu ridge for those that don't fancy the ridge scramble.

From the OS Trig there are a few routes off the summit, with the two most notable being across the ridgeline which is exposed only on one side, or down past Llynnau Mymbr and through the woods, which is very scenic.

Parking is on the A5 just before Pont-Cyfyng
