After the court was dissolved in 1848, a brewery was built in the historic courthouse in Krombach and was in operation until 1942. When the last master brewer was drafted and finally fell in World War II, the brewing business came to a standstill. The building itself still exists today as the "old brewery" and is not far from the church and the Krombach town hall on the thoroughfare.

From 1300 to 1848, the imperial district court had great importance in the territory of the upper Kahlgrundes. In the years 1627-29 more than 50 women and men were burned as witches and magicians on the then district court Schöneberg.
