A place to look and heaven for amateur or professional photographers, Simon Peak is the perfect destination in any season. The route can be traveled within two hours at a walking distance, being accessible for cyclists as well.
The peak of Simon, located above the churches, brings great peace of mind to those who come here. Access is relatively easy, for any age; from the Sanatorium Bisericani we go north, to the few blocks where the sanatorium staff once lived. After we pass these, in a slight ascent towards the winding road between the secular oak trees we reach a large meadow where we go to the left, following an old road that takes us on the level curve (in Simon's Saddle), from where we start the ascent to the top .
The satisfaction after reaching Simon's peak is maximum. You have the impression that you see half of Romania from here, but in reality you only see the city of Piatra-Neamt that curves around Pietricica.
Even a more inexperienced eye can see that Simon Peak was fortified during the war. In the ground you can see the traces of the fortification surrounded by a trench network, and some elders still tell of the high caliber cannon located in the middle.
