The church was built between 1470 and 1490 by the Egerer Burggrafen Heinz von Zedtwitz as a castle and funeral chapel. In 1542 the church became Protestant. The Asher Larch under the influence of the Protestant Counts of Zedtwitz was a peculiarity in the otherwise predominantly Catholic Austria-Hungary and later Czechoslovakia. Unlike the church in Aš, it has survived the era of communism largely unscathed, but is in need of renovation. Conservation measures were initiated in 1992, to which former German inhabitants provided a large part of the funds. Every second Sunday of the month, a service was held in German. Since 1992, the church is celebrated on the second Sunday after Easter. The interior of the church was extensively renovated after 1995.
