                          As soon as I entered the area, I felt uneasy. The thought that this place was once the brutally sealed border between the GDR and the FRG never left me. The old border fortifications, some of which have been preserved here in their original form and have been recreated in other places, were fascinating and frightening at the same time. They told the story of a divided nation in which people were separated from each other by minefields, self-firing devices and a hermetically sealed border strip.

                          The death strip connects the blue house with the US camp and serves as a visible sign of division. As I walked along this path, I couldn't help but think about the past and the many fates associated with this place. It was a strange feeling to walk on a strip that once represented so much suffering and separation.

                          The memorial is a place of remembrance and education. I thought about the words of visitors that every student should visit this site. It is important that we remember the past so as not to repeat the mistakes and appreciate the meaning of freedom and democracy.

                          The tours that are offered offer deep insights into the background and history of the death strip. It was both educational and moving to learn more about the historical events that shaped this place.
