The Julianenpark in Leer was once laid out with a lush 32 hectares by the former landlord of the popular Evenburg in Leer, the Count von Wedel. The name was given in honor of his daughter-in-law at the time.

In the last years of the Weimar Republic, the city of Leer acquired the park and laid it out in its present-day appearance with its wide range of leisure activities after a storm damage. In addition to other historical gardens in Leer, the Julianenpark is very popular with the urban population for recreational purposes, which every visitor will be able to understand after a pleasant stroll or a leisurely bike ride through the park.

The City Ecological Leer Path comprises 29 stations around Leer, which can be easily managed in a two and a half hour bike tour. The tour begins on Windelkampsweg. The highlight marked here is one of six stations in the local recreation area.
