The diverse and high-quality exhibitions of the Turku Art Museum introduce the fascinating world of art, from classical works to the latest developments in contemporary art. In addition to the diverse exhibition program, the museum offers many other activities as well as the beautiful museum atmosphere, in which one can meet and entertain.
The museum manages one of the most comprehensive art collections in Finland. As a national treasure, the collection with art from the Golden Age of Finland (around the turn of the 20th century), self-portraits, Finnish surrealism and pop art. Today, the collection of the museum comprises almost 7,000 pieces and a part of the collection is continuously exhibited by changing exhibitions.
The museum's national-romantic granite building is one of the city's most distinctive landmarks and an attraction in itself. The building, designed by Professor Gustaf Nyström and completed in 1904, was the second in Finland to be specially designed and built as an art museum.
