The Statzerhaus, owned by the ÖTK (Austrian Tourist Club), sits atop the Hundstein summit. Hundstein can be climbed from all directions. Almost every one of the countless climbs leads over long, relatively flat ridges in the final stretch. While the hiking routes can generally be classified as easy, they are usually quite long, which is reflected in the walking times.
The Statzerhaus is famous not only for its delicious roasted meat and stunning sunrises and sunsets, but above all for the famous St. James's wrestling competition in the natural arena below the Statzerhaus.
