The Mont Saint-Michel Dam (French: barrage du Mont-Saint-Michel) is a modern hydraulic structure on the Couesnon River, completed in 2009. The new dam regulates the flow of the Couesnon River using eight movable locks. At high tide, it retains seawater, which is released again at low tide. This flushing action removes sediment from the bay, allowing the sea to completely flow around Mont Saint-Michel again at certain tides.
