Very relaxed area there

During the entire hike, you always cross completely different types of landscape. We only met a few people on the route.

There is always something to see and discover in the nature reserve.

From the trail you can enjoy a magnificent view over the gently undulating, wide landscape around the Baltic Sea fjord Schlei.

The main hiking trail was very overgrown. The byways were no longer recognizable. Nevertheless, worth the little detour anyway.

If you have walked along the old railway line, the Hechtmoor offers a wonderful contrast to the Plattenweg. Already designated as a nature reserve in 1941, the Hechtmoor appears to us very close to nature. On the exit side to Süderholz there is an information board with lots of information about the plants and inhabitants of the Hechtmoor. The path continues into the Rehberger Gehege (Süderholz). A large and a small circular path lead through this beautiful mixed forest with its old trees and many small pools of water.

The pike bog is a small raised bog typical of the fishing moraine landscape. It was created after the last ice age and is gallery-like surrounded by an alder forest. In the core zone of the bog, significant stocks of the raised bog plant society grow with bell heather, rosemary heather, cranberry and deciduous cotton grass. In places, these stocks are lined with fragrant shrubbery. With its striking yellow flowers, the moor lily is considered a character plant of the pike bog. The heavily endangered sundew is also common. Gradually silting peat stitches contain unusually diverse peat moss grass. The diverse flora of the pike bog enables a species-rich insect life. Dragonflies with many different species are particularly represented.
