The Belagua "Ángel Olorón" Refuge was inaugurated in 1971 in a strategic location at the head of the Roncal Valley and for decades it has experienced different moments, from abandonment, reforms and years of high mountain activity until its definitive closure in 2004. In 2018 it underwent a major renovation and was opened with a new management model. It is open all year round, has a capacity for 54 seats and offers a bar and restaurant service. The refuge's car park is a good place to start hiking and mountain activities in the peaks and massifs of the eastern Navarrese Pyrenees and the French surroundings of Piedra de San Martín. And it is also the entrance to the magical world of Larra, one of the largest karst massifs in the Spanish mountains with spectacular peaks and hundreds of kilometers of underground galleries, such as the Sima de San Martín and the Puertas de Illamina galleries, with a vertical development of about 1,400 meters from the entrance.
