Easy exit

This ancient trading town, the capital of Conflent, has preserved some beautiful traces of its history and its status as a defensive town. Examples include the ramparts and the Viguerie Tower, built by the Count of Cerdagne in the 11th century and subsequently reinforced by Vauban's fortifications in the 17th century.

Villefranche-de-Conflent is a town with an exceptional heritage: from the Middle Ages to the present day, time has left in its stones the marks of the men who built, conquered, or lived there. More than any other, Vauban, the "wanderer of the Sun King," has left his mark here.

Beautiful, quiet road. It's really nice to be away from traffic, especially if you're leaving the main road that leads to Lake Matemale.

Lake Matemale with its beautiful beaches is located at an altitude of 1500 metres and therefore the water is between 19 and 23°.

This church was built in the 17th century on the foundations of a Romanesque church, of which only the Lombard-style bell tower, dating from the 12th century, remains today. The church has a large nave flanked on either side by fourteen chapels. The vault is pointed, the transept arches are basket-handle, while those of the side chapels are semicircular. From an architectural point of view, this church, whose construction took place over a hundred years (1606-1696), is remarkably simple.
