This village had great historical significance: in the Middle Ages, its castle was key in the Remensa Wars and in the control of the region, passing through the hands of various noble families. The manor remained until the mid-19th century, when it disappeared with the state expropriation of 1854.

A pass that is not too difficult to climb and offers a magnificent landscape when crossing the border at the summit.

14 km ascent with mostly moderate gradients. As it goes up a narrow valley, the views only become more spectacular in the upper third. The col itself is unexciting.

9월 6, 2024, Col d'Ares
It is a mountain pass located at an altitude of 1,513 metres, on the border between France and Spain, connecting Vallespir (France) with Ripollès (Catalonia, Spain). It is a historic and strategic place, used for centuries as a trade route and also during the Retirada (1939), when thousands of refugees crossed the pass fleeing the Spanish Civil War. Today, it is a popular hiking spot and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Pyrenees.

Camprodon is a small town in the province of Girona with a long history behind it: it was taken and burned in several wars over the centuries. Today, it is a quiet place located in the valley where the Ter and Ritort rivers meet.

The Coll d'Ares is a mountain pass in the Pyrenees that joins the counties of Ripollès and Vallespir, between the municipal terms of Molló and the communal areas of Prats de Molló and la Presta. If we are lucky the views are spectacular. In my case I went up with a Gravel Bike along the road from Camprodon.

One of the most beautiful ports I've done by bike, in my case twice with the Gravel bike doing the Pirinexus route from Girona. Asphalted port with little traffic, like most ports in the Pyrenees the prize is spectacular views. I did the port already coming from Girona and it was hard. The descent towards Prats de Molló is spectacular.

Camprodon is a charming little Catalan town located near the French border. There you will find the birthplace of the composer Isaac Albeniz (Spanish composer from the end of the 19th century), shops and a new old bridge.

9월 13, 2023, Vistas de la Roca
This little town has an important historical past. Just to give a brief overview, in 1244, the Lord of Milany exempted the residents of La Roca from all charges except for the remença to prevent it from becoming uninhabited, since at that time the towns of the region, La Roca was no exception, were depopulating due to the fact that the residents were subject to feudal rights. Many people also moved to “royal places”, because they were exempt from charges. In 1275 this little town was besieged by the Infante Jaume, son of King Jaume I. With the war of the remenças, the lordship of La Roca belonged to a Descatllar, which had been granted to him by John II, confiscated from Bernat de So, who later recovered it. By the 14th century, La Roca Castle had the best defense conditions in the surrounding area. At that time it belonged to the Desbac family. The good conditions favored John II, during the War of the Remences, to establish the head castle of the captaincy there. Together with the castle of Camprodon, they formed a good place of control and protection for the entire region. In the 15th century, the captaincies were abolished by King Ferdinand the Catholic. Around 1621, the Descatllar family became Feudal Lords of the castle and its territory. After a few centuries, in 1843 it belonged to Josep Domingo, a shopkeeper from Vic who had bought it from the Descatllar family. Finally, the lordship disappeared definitively with the state expropriation in 1854.

It rises above the river Ter with a large arch and another small one that gives way to Carrer de Sant Roc. The construction dates back to the end of the 12th century, according to the Gothic design. It was declared a Historical and Artistic Monument in 1976. The silhouette of this bridge, located in the town centre, is one of the most characteristic prints of Camprodon. It rises above the river Ter with a large arch and another small one that gives way to Carrer de Sant Roc, through which you enter what is called Vila de Baix, formed in medieval times and surrounded by walls. In fact, the bridge, with a double slope, was a must-pass for all those going to Cerdanya, and that is why access to the walls was through the so-called Porta de Cerdanya. The construction, according to the documentation found, dates back to the end of the 12th century, following a Gothic design, although this statement is contradicted by the dates carved on the doors on both sides of the bridge, which refer to the 16th centuries and XVII. However, the upper portal, due to its characteristics, must be posterior. The name probably refers to the existence of another previous bridge. It was declared a Historical and Artistic Monument in 1976. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYIP5zSMpwU
