A remarkable remnant of what was once a large and important abbey. Caesar, Napoleon and German troops are said to have passed through this area during the First World War.

The monastery suffered during the Hundred Years War and the wars of the 16th and 17th centuries, but unlike most monasteries in France, it never fell into the coming. The monastery was rebuilt in the 17th century. Most of the buildings remained intact until after the French Revolution, in which they were divided among various new owners.
