The neo-Romanesque building was built in 1912 on the former city wall in front of the former Napoleon Gate. During Prussian times, a "Second Class Postal Expedition" existed in Freyburg by the 1830s at the latest. During the German Empire, this was converted into an Imperial Post Office and, in 1890, a new building was constructed east of the old town on Jahnplatz. Just 22 years later, the post office was relocated to Wasserstraße. With the privatization of the German Federal Post Office, to which the post office had belonged since reunification, the post offices were converted into postal agencies, and the old buildings were often abandoned. This was also the case in Freyburg, where a dentist's office and a photography studio now occupy the former post office.

The mill, which once belonged to Neuenburg, was built at the end of the 11th century. In 1632, the Saxon Elector Johann Georg had a new mill building constructed, today's Burgmühle. The mill was used as a fulling mill, oil mill, sawmill, and grain mill. At the end of the 19th century, turbines were installed to generate electricity. Since 2015, hydropower has been generated here again. The Burgmühle hydroelectric power station can be visited by prior appointment. Guided tours are available for groups of five or more people. Those less interested in technology can enjoy refreshments at the "Am Unstrut Wehr" restaurant, picturesquely located directly on the Unstrut River. It seats 200 guests. The restaurant features a large terrace, an event room with panoramic views, and three bowling alleys.

The Memorial Gymnastics Hall is dedicated to the memory of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (1778 to 1852). In the early 1890s, the idea arose to erect a representative memorial with an adjoining gymnasium over Jahn's grave, which contains his bronze bust, which Johannes Schilling had created in 1858. Construction began in late summer 1893 according to plans by Leipzig architect Georg Weidenbach, and the inauguration took place on June 10, 1894, in the presence of 3,000 gymnasts from all over Germany. The Jahn Museum was initially located in the space behind the Schilling bust, but due to lack of space, it was relocated to the adjacent new Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Hall of Honor in 1903. In 1936, Jahn's remains were reburied from the Memorial Gymnastics Hall in the crypt on the grounds of the Jahn House. To this day, the memorial gymnasium is used by Freyburg's schools and clubs. In 1994, the gymnasium was renovated and completed with the addition of an underground sanitary wing.
