This small cemetery was created during the First World War at the Marceau barracks in Verdun. This monument represents the mass grave where on 22 December 1944 the mutilated bodies of 16 resistance fighters, slaughtered by the Gestapo, were found at the southern entrance of the Tavennes tunnel.
