The abbey church is only slightly smaller than Notre Dame in Paris. The nave measures an impressive 127 m. Its origins date back to the 7th century. You can clearly hear the ticking of the astronomical clock. There is little pomp and yet there are artistic reliefs everywhere and the shrine with a few drops of Christ's blood. Admission is free.

With its very characteristic freestone bell tower (12th century), the Saint Anne church is of the first Gothic art of the 12th, 16th and 17th centuries. The nave has a beautiful ribbed vault from the 18th and 19th centuries and some of the columns may date from the 12th century, recut in the 16th century. The church was a place of prayer for the women of Newfoundland. The exterior of the church was completely renovated in 2005.

In terms of length (127m), this abbey church can measure up to the great French cathedrals (Notre-Dame de Paris: 130m). The facade is classic, while the walls of the nave impress with their austere appearance. Walk around the south side and stop in front of the side portal; the tympanum of the inner door is a textbook example of Norman Gothic decoration. Above the crossing of the transept rises a 65 m high, typical Norman bell tower with a square plan (towers of Notre-Dame; 69 m).

The church of Duke Richard I burned down after a lightning strike, but was rebuilt in the 12th and 13th centuries. Changes were made afterwards (15th and 18th century). The town hall is now located in the monastery buildings on the north side.

Pretty village typical of Normandy, not far from the white cliffs, grouped around the medieval church of St Anne. The brick and flint houses once belonged to the pebble pickers who took the paths to the beach. Ideal for refueling and walking in the middle of nature.

The church Église Notre-Dame in Sassetot le Mauconduit dates from the 19th century and the baptismal font from the 12th century. The old church (at that time suitable for 80 people) dates from the 13th century and was demolished in January 1852. The same year the new church in Roman style was built. This thanks to Marquis de Martinville. The organ was commissioned in 1897 and built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. The pulpit dates from 1891.

The legendary story of the Precious Blood of Fécamp takes its final form following the discovery, on July 19, 1171, in the ruins of the abbey of the Holy Trinity, of two lead cases containing particles of the blood of Christ . Following the legend, after the crucifixion, Nicodemus, together with Joseph of Arimathea, receives the body of Christ and proceeds to his burial. Nicodemus is one of the last men to have physical contact with the remains of Christ - he saw it and touched it. As a result, he is in a position to become a purveyor of relics. Inspired by God, he sculpts the face of Christ: this work, the Saint Voult, passes from the Holy Land to Lucca. In another tradition, he collects particles or drops of Christ blood which, following a miraculous journey, will be carried, in the trunk of a fig tree, to the shore where the Abbey of the Holy Trinity of Fécamp. The two historical-legendary corpora are not independent of each other. From certain indications, we can suppose that the clerics and laity of Fécamp who composed the account of the translation of the Precious Blood, made use of the tradition of Saint Voult of Lucca. https://journals.openedition.org/tabularia/1676

Sissi, Empress of Austria, stayed in the castle (now a hotel) in the summer of 1885. This 18th century residence is enthroned in the middle of a beautiful park. (Michelin) In the castle of Sassetot-le-Mauconduit, the Austrian Empress Elisabeth, also known as 'Sissi', stayed for several months in 1875. She went horse-hunting there, although the trip in Vienna had been announced as a necessary sea cure, for Elisabeth's 7-year-old daughter Marie Valerie. On June 29, 1875, Empress Elisabeth arrived in Fécamp on a special train. Two days later she moved into the castle. She took a retinue of almost 70 men and 2 of her favorite horses. She had rented the castle. She left again on September 25 of the same year. She never returned to Normandy. The castle itself is classically built in the 18th century. In 1772 it was put down by Jean Robert Bigot. The castle has now been converted into a hotel-restaurant. It has an 11 hectare park. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sassetot-le-Mauconduit
