7월 8, 2025, Funiculaire du Tréport
The first funicular railway in Le Tréport was inaugurated on July 1, 1908, in the presence of Gaston d'Orléans and his wife Isabelle, Count and Countess of Eu. Thanks to its popularity, more than 2,000 travelers purchased their round-trip tickets in the first month of operation. This amazing idea was born after the extension of the Eu-Le Tréport electric tram line to serve the "Les Terrasses" district proved impossible due to the significant elevation difference on Rue de la Commune de Paris.

2월 19, 2025, Ault Chalk Cliffs
The cliffs around the beach of Ault are composed of chalk from the Upper Cretaceous, more precisely from the Turonian and Coniacian (around 83 million years ago to 90 million years ago). They are strewn with flint nodules which highlight the subhorizontal stratification planes (the formation of flint has already been discussed in Discovery of the geology of the cliffs of Étretat, presentation of an excursion from the beach of Tilleul (Antifer) to the Porte d'Amont (Étretat Nord)). The relative proportion of chalk and flint is around 90-95% chalk to 5-10% flint. Flint horizons are stratigraphic markers. On the cliffs of Ault, the regular flint band called Seven Sisters is recognizable and characterizes the boundary between the Middle Coniacian and the Upper Coniacian (around 87 million years ago). The boundary between the lower and middle Coniacian is marked by the Shoreham 2 marl level, which is more difficult to identify. These lithostratigraphic markings allow in particular the correlation of distant deposits, such as between the Normandy and Picardy coasts, or between the French and English coasts.

Ault is a beautiful place. Beautifully laid out paths above and below the impressive cliffs. The town center is perfect for relaxing. There are a few cafes and bistros for when you get a little hungry. There are benches everywhere where you can sit and enjoy a few minutes of peace and the wonderful views.

If you are looking for a scenic and exhilarating hike, you should try the Cise Cliff, a stunning white cliff that overlooks the turquoise sea of the Bay of Somme. You can start from the charming village of Ault, where you can admire the panoramic views of the coast, and follow the yellow marked path along the edge of the cliff. Be careful, some passages are very steep and the limestone rock is subject to erosion. You will reach the Bois de Cise, a green oasis home to elegant Belle Époque villas. You can explore this picturesque hamlet and enjoy its peaceful atmosphere before returning to Ault.

The seaside district, the seafront promenade and adjoining streets are best explored on foot. The houses are in a clearly visible chronological order: closest to the cliff are the simplest and oldest houses, while the most recent 'country houses' are more towards Le Tréport. The beautiful architectural ensemble of some 400 luxury villas from the Belle Epoque has been declared a 'protected sector'. The houses show all kinds of styles, but Art Nouveau is especially prominent. The facades show great imagination; awning roofs, (bell) turrets, bay windows, loggias, balconies of wrought iron or wood, ceramic motifs.

Mers-les-Bains, opposite Le Tréport, owes its exceptional architecture to the perseverance of the municipality which, at the end of the 19th century, transformed this fishing village into a popular holiday residence with beautiful villas. The success of this was partly due to the popularity of bathing in the sea at the time, the beautiful pebble beach of 1 km and the railway.
