The birthplace of General Lafayette (who played a crucial role in the American War of Independence) is here in a tiny Auvergne village.

Imposing building currently being restored by a team of enthusiasts. I think it can be visited (paying, to finance the restoration I imagine).

Village center

This part offers a beautiful view of the village of Saint-Pal-de-Senouire. We can see the Saint-Paul church which sits at the top of the rocky promontory on which the village was built.

If in Auvergne there are several personalities who have marked history, the Marquis de Lafayette is one of the most important. Both a great craftsman in the American Revolutionary War and a leading figure during the French Revolution, he was born and spent his childhood here.
