With the Church of the Holy Trinity, built in the Baroque style between 1709 and 1725, the parish maintains the largest church in the city, indeed, in the wider region. After the destruction of the Second World War, the church, whose outer walls had survived, was redesigned internally by Otto Bartning. Coming from the Bauhaus movement, Bartning is considered the most important church architect of the 20th century, having built over 100 churches beyond Germany's borders. The church—serving as the parish church—is also today the most impressive concert hall in the city—indeed, far and wide—and is thus a sought-after venue for major musical works, choirs, and orchestras.
