Langeac is a small town nestled in the Allier gorges. The place is ideal for practicing the most diverse outdoor sports: white water activities, hiking, and of course cycling.

Nestled in the heart of the Allier valley, the chapel of Sainte-Marie-des-Chazes is one of the architectural jewels of Haut-Allier. Built in the 13th century, it reveals an Auvergne Romanesque style.

The current church was built in the 11th century by very influential families. It was undoubtedly an important place of passage. It depended on the Cluniac monastery of Sainte-Croix de Lavoûte-Chilhac. The latter is located 30 kilometers as the crow flies. It is surely to Odilon de Mercoeur, fifth abbot of Cluny that we owe its construction.
