Every now and then you can see the yellow facade of the Marienthal Monastery through the trees. The former monastery church is worth a visit.

Even though the religious community that used to be based here left the Marienthal monastery a decade ago, the pilgrimage church was open when I visited today and was visited by some people for silent Eucharistic adoration. Next to the church there is a statue of the Sacred Heart and behind it a Lourdes grotto has been built.

On the Way of the Cross, you can follow the Passion of Christ at 14 different stations, which are depicted in impressive mosaic images. The Way of the Cross culminates on Calvary Hill, where a mighty cross commemorates the death of Jesus Christ.

The house is in an idyllic location, with great hiking opportunities in unspoilt nature. The Westerwaldsteig leads directly past the house.
