From this vantage point, there is an impressive view of the Aggstein Castle ruins, perched high on a rock above the Danube. The castle originated at the beginning of the 12th century, was expanded in the 14th century, and fortified in the 15th century. Today, walls, towers, and battlements still remain, illustrating its strategic location and medieval construction. The ruins are a significant historical monument of the Wachau region.
