The Gothic church of Saint-Michel d'Erbeuval was built in 1888. It features neo-Gothic furniture and its stained-glass windows are by the glass painters Bulteau (Reims) and Étienne et Mouilleron (Bar-le-Duc).

Just enjoy one of the many small villages in the French Ardennes. Herbeuval is a commune in the French department of Ardennes (Grand Est region) and has 88 inhabitants (2009). The place is part of the Sedan district.

A special place, the place to be. In the past, the entire village community gathered here on the weekly washing day. With a little imagination you can still see children playing in the open water and housewives sharing the latest village gossip.

A recommendation to discover this historic cemetery in foggy weather or at dusk. The fog or shadows give a mysterious atmosphere to the cemetery. Not recommended for the faint of heart.

This Fumière used to be the village community's disposal pit. Now it serves as a central point in the small cozy village center. From our diary Midweek Gaume 2021: We leave the Trappist on the shelf and with the blessing of Saint Therese we dive into the 'Golden Valley'. Christ at the old lime tree is a landmark (and an example) for many who have climbed out of the deep valley. Dark clouds gather, thick drops fall on our umbrella. Lightning bolts light up the wet asphalt. The fumière (old eel pit) in the village of Villers-devant-Orval offers some relief. After a quick prayer, with the protector against thunder and lightning, Saint-Genoulf, the storm stopped as quickly as it came. In times of need one knows one's friends and at this moment it is better to be friends with someone who once served in the Roman Legio fulminatrix (Lightning Legion). At the village washhouse we refresh our minds and return with peace of mind through the State Forests to the spiritual resort of Orval. A school of trout hear our cadence and jump for joy at our reunion. On the good end we sip our spirited Trappist Orval.
