Winemaking was already practiced here in Roman times, but Zell became world-famous for its cult wine 'Zeller Schwarze Katz,' which has been exported worldwide since the 19th century. Steep vineyards, narrow streets, and half-timbered houses characterize the landscape – a place where the landscape and wine culture tell a long history.

Built of red sandstone, the church is one of the most beautiful examples of this neoclassical style in the Moselle Valley. The church windows, donated and installed in 1907, deserve special attention.
