Description: In the middle of the Hunsrück field there is a gigantic wooden bench with a backrest, which is impressive just by its size. This oversized bench, which can be climbed up via a small staircase, offers a wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. It is not only a fun photo opportunity, but also a perfect place to take a break and enjoy the vastness of the Hunsrück in peace. My experience: This huge bench was one of the highlights of my hike around the Geierlay suspension bridge. It was a surprising discovery that caused a moment of childlike joy. From up here I felt like I was floating over the fields and the view was simply fantastic. An unusual but worthwhile stop on any hike in this region. Highlight tip: Take your time to linger on the bench and enjoy the surroundings. It is particularly beautiful here in the early morning or late afternoon when the sun is low and bathes the fields in warm light. Don't forget to take some photos - the bench is truly one of a kind! Directions: The bench is easily accessible on foot from the Geierlay suspension bridge. It is located on a dirt road that is part of several hiking trails in the area. Look for the large bench - you won't miss it!

If you want to avoid the many visitors who cross the bridge in procession, especially when the weather is nice, you should be at the bridge by 10:00 a.m. at the latest. The bridge can be accessed from both directions and there are several wooden benches and wooden loungers at the entrance points so you can enjoy this impressive masterpiece of engineering.

Super view of the bridge, the long journey is worthwhile, the bridge itself is very shaky, especially on weekends, the bridge is very crowded.

The suspension bridge Geierlay is still an impressive experience, but has lost the title of "longest suspension bridge in Germany" in 2017 to the suspension bridge "Titan RT" at the Rappbode dam ... On weekends and holidays, the bridge is always busy, so either be there early or plan for another day.

A worthwhile destination because you almost feel like a bird. Spread your arms, take a run-up and float over the bridge. A wonderful feeling. Not long ago it was Germany's longest suspension bridge. There is a hiking trail with a circular loop. So once over the bridge and once under it, you get some great perspectives. Unfortunately the parking lot in Sosberg is a bit small, but the tarte flambée in Café Schimpf is great.

Hello dear bridge fans😉, I would like to add something to Kathi's comments. The currently longest suspension bridge in the world is the "Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge" (also Europabrücke). It is 494 meters long and about 85 meters high. It was built 07.2017 in Switzerland (Valais) about 660 meters above Randa on the Europaweg. We crossed it in October 2017 on a nice circular walk from Randa. IT IS ALSO VERY RECOMMENDED! 👍👌😊
