Nice fountain. There is no sign saying that it is not drinking water, but I'm not sure if you should drink it. At least the water is nice and cool in the summer to cool your arms 😊

Nice, narrow path that is nice to walk

Mr. Muckel sells his delicious honey, among other things: at the weekly markets in Grünstadt and Eisenberg!

This path goes along partly steep wooden steps through a steep slope with many old trees. Why it is designated as a “wine trail” (900 m long) on the full marker is a mystery to me. Maybe there was actually a vineyard here (south slope!) a long, long time ago.

The origins and demise of the disappeared village of Zwingweiler are very closely linked to the Höningen monastery, which was founded in 1120 by Count Emrich II von Leiningen and his wife Alberade and was staffed by Augustinian canons, which is why the history of this monastery needs to be briefly touched upon. The small settlement of Zwingweiler was first mentioned in 1245 in a bull from Pope Innocence IV, which also listed the tithe to Zwingweiler. In this bull, the Höningen monastery was also given the authority to create burial places within the monastery for non-Höningen residents if they gave gifts, donations and legacies to the monastery in exchange for their preference to find their final resting place near the monastery. The monks, who had neglected their duties, were often subjected to all sorts of moral corruption by the frivolous women who were in Zwingweiler during the unavoidable waiting time when the corpses were picked up.
