The bell was stolen in 1613.

In the town hall square stands a replica of the historic Alzey bell. The original was cast in 1613 and probably taken to Holland during the Thirty Years' War, according to the information panel.

The sculpture incorporates the following quote by the Enlightenment thinker Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, who was born in Kamenz. It is a motto of the Old Town Association, but could just as well serve as a motto for the town twinning between Alzey and Kamenz: “Only that which you yourself give up is truly lost.”

The former Lutheran church in Alzey was built in 1728/29. It is called the "small church" because it is rather dainty compared to Alzey's other churches. At its initiative, further renovations were carried out in 1995/96. In 2004/05, the roof was completely replaced, and the exterior walls were plastered, restoring the original Baroque appearance of the small church.
