The Norbert Stone in Großemast commemorates Saint Norbert of Xanten (circa 1080–1134). In 1115, Count Norbert of Gennep was caught in a thunderstorm during his journey. He had almost reached his destination when he was struck by lightning. He survived—and changed his life. The nobleman dedicated his life to his faith and founded an order that still exists today. The Catholic Church canonized him in 1582. The local history society erected this memorial in 1934. In 2015, 900 years after the historic conversion event, Vreden celebrated the "Norbert Year." On this occasion, the local history society had a second bronze plaque installed at the memorial.

The "Railway Trail" is part of the European Cycle Route R1 and is one of the most frequently used tourist routes in Vreden. The placement of the old trolley on the short section of track is intended to explain the name "Railway Trail" and serve as a reminder of the centuries-old tradition of brickmaking in Vreden.

In 1811, the Hunings watermill in Vreden-Ammeloe was built by Hermine and Johann Huning. On the middle floor are the two millstones, each with two millstones made of Eifel blue basalt. For reasons of efficiency, a turbine was installed around 1900. It operated until after World War II, but afterwards the timber-framed building fell into increasing disrepair. The decay was accelerated by frost and rain, especially since there was no longer any need to operate the mill. Because the Huningsbach stream was diverted and the groundwater level dropped, the mill was in grave danger of complete collapse in 1978. Salvation came at the last minute. The Vredener Land Local History Association dismantled the mill piece by piece and rebuilt it in 1998 on the banks of the Berkel River in the town park. ... The construction of the new Cultural History Center in Vreden in 2016 led to another drop in the groundwater level. As a result, the mill stood idle for four years and could not be operated. It turned out that a new waterwheel was needed. Uneven moisture levels and exposure to sunlight had warped the old one. Once again, help was needed. But thanks to many supporters, Vreden managed to acquire a new wheel. Look closely at everything this mill has experienced over the years and perhaps will experience in the future. It's wonderful that it can now operate as it did for so many years. You can be proud to bring joy to so many people in the city park on weekends with products from this mill. Thus, the effort was worthwhile, and a piece of Vreden's history has been saved. For many years, the team from the "Möllenkring" (Mill Circle) has ensured the smooth operation of the now 210-year-old Huningsche watermill in the city park. The Möllenkring (Mill Circle) has now been awarded a certificate by the Westphalian Mill Association for its maintenance of the mill. https://www.paettkes.de/portfolio-items/hunings-muehle/
