🚦 The old steamroller is a striking monument and popular photo subject in the Generations Park at Darfeld train station. It commemorates the era of road and railway construction in the early 20th century and is part of the "Railway Expedition" along the Münsterland Cycle Route.

from rosendahl.de: "Important guest from Sweden - As a naturally occurring landscape element, the Holtwick Egg is a natural monument. The famous stone is a boulder from the Ice Age and is mentioned in records dating back to the 17th century. A rock analysis has shown that the boulder is a variant of the Red Växjö Granite, which originates from southern Sweden. The boulder thus traveled a distance of 800 km to reach its current location. Weighing 30 to 35 tons, the Holtwick Egg is one of the largest boulders in Münsterland. The Legend of the Holtwick Egg In earlier times, the Holtwick Egg was surrounded by many legends. One of the most beautiful legends is recounted here: "When Christianity came to Münsterland and the first churches were built in our area, the devil was seized by a tremendous rage. He knew nothing better to do than to destroy the churches by throwing stones at them. But it would have to be a massive block if he wanted to achieve his goal. He carried it in his coat sleeve and stomped off. The further he went, the more the weight weighed on him. Now an old oak forest also hindered him. The gnarled giant trees pushed against him. The weight of the stone prevented him from flying over them. He cursed horribly and tried to hit the little church from a distance. With the words "Holt wiek oder ick smiet," he began to throw it. But the stone didn't fly far. With great force, it struck deep into the ground. There it lies now, and no one can remove it. Gritting his teeth, the devil departed, for he now knew that he could do nothing against Christianity. The place where the stone fell was given the name Holtwick.
