Varberg is a lovely coastal town known for its sandy beaches, well‑preserved medieval fortress, and a picturesque promenade that doubles as a popular cycling route along the Kattegat shoreline. The town sits on the Kattegattleden long‑distance cycle path, making it a key stop to combine seaside views with easy access to cafés, beaches, and spa facilities.

It's the perfect spot for a leisurely picnic, and with luck, you might even spot an osprey. Be careful: there are a lot of ants.

Bring Fika and stay by the lakes at a nice spot - super nice trip with limited to no traffic 90 % of the route! MTB required but not any difficulties

The beautiful trails through the ancient beech forests lead to views of Lake Skärsjön. Access to some areas is restricted during breeding season between April and July, so be sure to check and respect guidelines at this time.

To the north of Lake Kalvsjön you'll walk through the beech forest that sits on the edge of the Valaklitts Nature Reserve. The biodiversity in the forest is magnificient, with a great number of lichens and bird species to look out for.

The Bocksten Man (Bockstensmannen), the remains of a medieval man's body, was found on this site. It's one of the best-preserved finds in Europe from that era and is exhibited at the Halland Museum of Cultural History.
