Folklore Museum Schönberg, this is the name of the former Heimatmuseum Schönberg. Above all, the collection of costumes of Ratzeburg country, the former Principality Ratzeburg, are a secret tip. The museum has existed since 1903 and since 1932 at the church in Schönberg. The collection of the "Alterthumsvereins Für die Fürthenthum Ratzeburg von 1901". Today it is one of the most important ethnographic collections in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. This is mainly due to the enthusiasm of the founders for the teacher and Rector Fritz Buddin. The St. Laurentius Church in Schönberg was built after 1324, after the Bishop of Ratzeburg had finally taken up residence in Schönberg. The current building had a predecessor, the remains of which can still be seen at the northeast corner of the church. The town church was built in the 14th century in the brick Gothic style. The tower was added in the 16th century. It was damaged by a lightning strike in 1829 and was given its current appearance in 1831.
