Opened in April 2021, this is one of the newest trails in Portugal. The Barca D'Amieira Trail combines a walkway, a suspension bridge, and a fabulous viewpoint in a single route. The trail also offers a walk along a towpath wall and stunning views of the Tagus River.

A little bit of Indiana Jones...

One of the most common occupations in Gáfete is paving. The profession and trade of paving streets, squares, plazas, gardens, and other public and private spaces. Aware that this is an artistic and nomadic profession, the pavers of the town of Gáfete are recognized in our region and beyond as professionals of excellence in laying pavements using various types of rock, such as granite, limestone, basalt, etc.” This trade has been practiced by the people of Gáfete since the mid-19th century, as some of them who are older report. A small suspension bridge with lots of safety!

It's a brave climb to this place! But once there, the colorful sculptures put a smile on our faces! It's well worth the climb!

An extraordinarily beautiful route, with the Tagus always present and lots of entertainment that takes us from Barragem do Fratel to Barca da Amieira, where you can cross the Tagus for free on the boat. It's worth the trip and the hike too!

The hike is a highlight in Portugal. There is a lot to experience along the way and you can even ride a rail bike here :)
