The Gummanz Chalk Museum was opened in 2001 on the site of the chalk factory of the same name, which was closed in 1962. The exhibition set up in the former boiler house provides extensive information about the geology of Rügen. Very good museum!

Anyone who visits the Chalk Museum should definitely take the path to the small Königsstuhl. It's a bit of an uphill climb - but you'll be rewarded with a great view

The chalk museum is in Sagard in the OT Neddesitz, it is Europe's only chalk museum and is located in a historic chalk factory from the time of traditional chalk mining on Rügen. The museum is very informative, everything is very clean and the staff on site was helpful and nice. The museum itself is barrier-free, but access to the small Königsstuhl is not.

Chalk was mined here many years ago. Today there is a museum about chalk extraction nearby. Very interesting and informative.

About 50m from the chalk quarry there is a rest area on the hill with a wonderful view.

The small Königstuhl looks very similar to the big one. It is located not far from the Chalk Museum near Neddesitz.
