Boží Dar (German: Gottesgab) lies at an altitude of approximately 1020 meters, making it the highest town in the Czech Republic. It was founded as a mining town and was known for its silver and tin mining. After the decline of mining, its location in the central Ore Mountains led it to develop into a recreational center, focusing on winter sports as well as summer hiking and cycling. Nearby are the highest peaks of the Ore Mountains: the 1244-meter-high Klínovec (Keilberg), the 1116-meter-high Božídarský Špičák (Gottesgaber Spitzberg), and the highest mountain in Saxony, the Fichtelberg, at 1214 meters.

Since 1977, a 3.2-kilometer-long nature trail on wooden planks has led through the Božídarské rašeliniště peat bog nature reserve. It features twelve stations with information panels. The 11.61-square-kilometer area has been protected since 1965. It encompasses a series of raised bogs with spruce, pine, Scots pine, dwarf birch, heaths, and meadows. A carnivorous plant characteristic of peat bogs, the round-leaved sundew, also grows here. The largest peat bog in the Ore Mountains lies at an elevation of 940 to 1116 meters; its specific mountain climate creates challenging conditions for animals and plants.

Karlovy Vary is always worth a visit! Impressive city center with historical highlights galore. The observation tower, which can also be reached by cable car, is particularly recommended.

The most famous section of the Teplá stretches from the Grandhotel Pupp through the Vřídelní and Mlýnská colonnades to the Hotel Thermal, which is famous for hosting the International Film Festival. The architecture of the houses on both banks of the river is worth seeing and a long stroll is definitely worth it. There are a number of footbridges and several bridges leading over the river. The Teplá then flows further through the center of Karlovy Vary and finally flows into the Ohře.

All the healing springs in the city centre are more or less decoratively enclosed. Pavilions and colonnades have been built over them, some of which are connected to each other. From north to south, the Sadováko Colonnade, the Mill Colonnade, the Market Colonnade, the Castle Colonnade and the Hot Spring Colonnade are lined up.

The current pseudo-Renaissance stone colonnade was built between 1871 and 1881 according to the plans of the Czech architect Josef Zítek. Between 1891 and 1892, the colonnade was extended by the northern pavilion above the rock spring. Inside this colonnade, the largest in Karlovy Vary, there are five mineral springs. The roof of the colonnade is decorated with twelve allegorical sandstone sculptures representing the months of the year.

The Castle Fountain was first discovered in 1769 under the Castle Tower in the historic center of Karlovy Vary. The first pavilion over the spring was built in 1797. In 1830, the arbor was completed with a new wooden colonnade designed by architect Josef Esch. Between 1910 and 1912, the Karlovy Vary master builder Friedrich Seitz built a new Art Nouveau colonnade designed by Viennese architect Johann Friedrich Ohmann. The colonnade consists of three separate units; the Lower Castle Fountain Colonnade, the Sunbathing Area and the Upper Castle Fountain Colonnade. It was intended to connect the space above the Castle Fountain with the Market Colonnade and create a single promenade unit.
