The Reformed Church was built in 1924 to a design by Ane Nauta. The cruciform church is designed in a rather expressive style, and a substantial tower with gables and a spire was built on the southeast side. The use of colored glass for decorative elements is characteristic.

The church, originally dedicated to Margaretha (Saint Margriet), is a single-aisled church with buttresses and a five-sided closed choir. The church with 12th-century tuff stone was enlarged and raised in the 14th-16th century. On the night of February 5 to 6, 1843, the medieval gable roof tower collapsed. The rebuilt four-tiered church tower with a constricted needle spire was rebricked in 1879. The north entrance, which was bricked up in 1885, has a pointed arch frame with semi-circular columns.

Blessum is a village in the municipality of Waadhoeke, in the Dutch province of Friesland. Blessum is located southwest of Leeuwarden, between Deinum, Boksum and Hijlaard on the Blessumervaart that runs to the Van Harinxma Canal. To the east of the village is the N359 and to the north the Leeuwarden-Harlingen railway line.

The St. John's Church is a medieval church in the Frisian village of Deinum. The construction history of the current church begins in the thirteenth century. The oldest part of the current church is the north wall of the nave. Part of this wall is made of tuff, probably reusing stones from an earlier church. The nave is closed by a five-sided chancel with buttresses at the corners. The tower, built between 1550 and 1567, is striking. The tower is topped by an onion-shaped spire, with pinnacles on the four corners. The church is dedicated to John the Baptist and is recognized as a national monument.
