However, there are still some areas that have been less influenced by the 21st century. One of these areas is the Heerlijkheid Marienwaerdt, located in the western Betuwe on the north bank of the Linge. This 900 hectare estate offers a picturesque landscape with fields, orchards, forests and meadows, and has a rich history, including the foundation of a Norbertine abbey around 1130 and the construction of the current Huis Marienwaerdt on the foundations of an old monastery building around 1800 .
