성 마르틴 교구는 1000년경 또는 그 이전에 설립되었습니다. 첫 번째 교회와 두 번째 교회가 언제 지어졌는지는 알려져 있지 않습니다. 첫 번째 교회는 목조였고 두 번째 교회는 응회암으로 지어졌다고 합니다. 14세기에 서쪽 탑이 건설되었습니다. 고딕 양식의 성가대석은 1626년에 지어졌습니다. 1664-1806/1820년 기간(출처에 따라 다름) 동안 이 교회는 로마 가톨릭 교구 H. Martinus와 당시 개혁파(개혁파) 공동체 Geul이 사용했습니다. 또한 마스강 건너편 레켐 땅에 살던 개신교도들의 피난처이기도 했습니다. 1919-1920년에 일부가 철거되고 재건되었습니다. 철거된 당시의 교회는 세 번째 교회였을 것입니다. 이 교회에서는 횡단 확대 후 현재 일상 예배당으로 사용되는 성가대석과 탑만 보존되어 있습니다. 새로운 중앙 신도는 기존 교회에서 재건되었으며, 마스트리흐트 건축가 Hubert van Groenendael의 설계를 따랐습니다. 이로 인해 교회는 전형적인 십자가 모양을 갖게 되었습니다.
